Heaps of holiday pleasures

Relax, hike, pedal, swim, enjoy…

The HOFER HOF is the ideal base for a multitude of holiday experiences all year round. From a blossom-filled spring of biking and summers hiking with amazing views, to the golden Merano autumn and white wonder of winter in the Meraner Land region.

But the HOFER HOF is also a great place to stay home in too. It has everything that makes a holiday varied and wonderfully restful.

The nearby vicinity

The HOFER HOF is a little world of its own, in which there is an unbelievable amount to discover. All you need to do is step out of your cosy apartment and you’ll find yourself at the heart of our large farm and met by the gentle splashing sounds of the fountain. Our own little farm chapel. This is a vestige of the old farmstead which we have carefully rescued. And which may remind you to take a moment to stop and be thankful during your holiday.

The green heart of our farm is a large, well-maintained lawn. An oasis of recreation for young and old alike, that offers plenty of room for undisturbed relaxation. Quiet sitting areas under shady trees and comfortable loungers as well as day beds might encourage you not to leave our farmstead at all on many a vacation day. Simply exist, do nothing, read a good book and enjoy yourself.

It’s great what there is to do here, including for our small guests. The adventure playground with sandpit, kids’ tractor, swing and more makes kids quickly forget the mobile phone, TV and grumbling. Often close friendships are made here with promises to meet again next year.

And anyone who looks around themselves here at the HOFER HOF will see – you guessed it! – a multitude of different apple trees that are nurtured by us all year round. And whose abundant fruits you can harvest and enjoy during your stay. Welcome!

The expanse around us

Others have to get in their car for this. At the HOFER HOF it is right outside your door: the famous Algunder Waalweg irrigation channel path, one of the loveliest South Tyrolean hiking trails alongside an ancient irrigation channel. Or how about a hike to the nearby Partschins Waterfall? During the thaw in spring it is among the most spectacular waterfalls in the entire Alpine region.

Anyone looking to get that little bit higher should lace up their climbing boots and explore the Texel Group Nature Park on a different path every day. South Tyrol’s largest nature park is a fascinating mountain landscape with striking summits, the famous Merano High Altitude Trail and the picturesque Spronser Lakes. This was the home of Oetzi too, the man from the ice. And, happily, it is still the untouched home of the ibex, the golden eagle and the edelweiss too.

Or perhaps you prefer the city atmosphere and culture? The garden village of Algund with its many palms and interesting parish church can be reached quickly and cheaply in just 8 minutes by car or by bus with our MeranCard. The nearby spa town of Merano is the perfect place to visit for a leisurely stroll or shop. Have all the amazing sights made you hungry? From the simple inn to the upscale gourmet temple in the Burggrafenamt region you will find everything is on the menu.

And if you are hungry for culture, there is plenty on offer in Meraner Land too. Tyrol Castle, the ancestral castle of the Counts of Tyrol, is definitely worth a visit. As are the famous Messner Mountain Museums or the quaint Typewriter Museum in Partschins. Children’s eyes will sparkle in Railway World in Rabland at the largest digital model railway in Italy and enthusiastically immerse themselves in Stone Age life in the archeoParc open-air museum.

Green, hospitable, great… the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are a 12 hectare natural amphitheatre with 80 garden landscapes and plants from all over the world. A visit should be an essential part of your holiday plans. And how about a sporty, green round of gold on one of the wonderfully situated courses at Lana or Passeier.Meran golf clubs? Have a good game!

At last! It’s snowing! In Oberplars, at 550 metres above sea level, and even more on the perfectly groomed slopes of the surrounding ski resorts of Merano 2000, Schwemmalm and Schnalstal. Add a little extra sparkle to Christmas with a visit to the enchanting Merano Christmas Market. Ding ding!

Biker? Then you’re in just the right place. Whether you're sporty or less ambitious. The HOFER HOF is only a 2 km ride to the Vinschgau cycle path, which runs from the Reschen Pass to Merano. Riders who prefer to get out and about in the terrain will find plenty to keep them happy on the flowing mountain bike trails in the surrounding area. As a benefit programme partner of Hike & Bike in Algund, we offer our cycle-mad guests the Bikecard Club with discounts of up to 30%.

A holiday for the car too. Our railway station has good links to the public transport network. The nearest bus stop, which has hourly connections to Merano, Algund and Vellau, is just four minutes’ walk away. The Töll railway station (trains to Merano-Bolzano and into the Vinschgau valley) is only five minutes away by car. On top of these, the cable cars and chairlifts in the area will carry you direct to the starting points of countless rewarding mountain hikes. The nearest places to go shopping (supermarket, baker, pharmacy, bank etc.) can be found 5 minutes’ drive away in the village of Algund. And we will be pleased to give you lots more “secret” tips in person too!
